Day 30
States: South Dakota, Wisconsin, Illinois
Sites seen: lots of flat ground, then back to the woods, a deep dish pizza place, and our campsite

It’s hard to believe it’s been 30 days! In many ways it is flying by so fast. And in other ways we are definitely ready for some of the comforts of home.
We spent most of the day today driving through the rolling plains while finishing Little House on Silver Lake. We feel like we’ve been roughing it for a month without the comforts of home but it is incredible to think of what the pioneers and homesteaders endured. I’ll certainly take my modern comforts any day!
After checking into our campsite, we headed out to have some deep dish pizza. The girls had never had deep dish before and even Miss A (who hates pizza) declared this pizza was even better than Kraft Mac and Cheese. So that’s a win in my book.

Since we are done with laundry for this trip and all of the quarters were weighing my bag down, I decided to increase my odds for Mom of the year by giving the girls the rest of the quarters and sending them down to the arcade. This was especially good because the pizza takes a good thirty minutes to make. Of course, they didn’t go for the games but straight for the machine with the claw that never lets you get anything. But wouldn’t you know- they won things!

I mean, now we have to find room for them in the car, but still. They were pleased!
Tomorrow we will be getting up and heading into Chicago proper to hit up the Willis (formerly Sears) Tower. Then it’s on to Ohio.
Talk to you soon-
Deanna
